The Pineal Gland and Intuition
In the centre of our brain lies a small gland called the pineal gland. Science views it as a key regulator of our body’s natural rhythms. Many spiritual traditions see it as the centre of subtle perception, which we know as intuition, describing it as the “gateway to higher knowledge.” The pineal gland produces substances linked with dreams and mystical experiences.
Its state and activity are directly affected by diet, sleep patterns and lifestyle choices. Science and ancient practices alike point to the same truth: our receptivity depends entirely upon the state of the nervous system and the quality of our attention.
Master Imram describes the pineal gland as an “antenna” that is always connected to the Higher, but remains inactive due to a lack of energy and our habit of directing attention outwards.
Within Kriya, intuition is not viewed as a random flash of insight or a rare gift possessed by a select few. Rather, it is a natural human capacity for deeper and subtler perception, allowing us to find answers not only through logic but also through inner knowing.
The Kriya techniques below are designed to help you activate the pineal gland and unlock subtle perception:
• body energisation;
• breathing techniques;
• concentration and visualisation methods;
• work with the energy centres (chakras);
• special mudras and techniques for anchoring attention.
During practice, we guide our attention up the spine, anchoring it within the region of the higher centres. Regular practitioners frequently describe this state as peace of mind, calmness, inner expansion and heightened awareness.
